Many of Hermanson’s clients – both owners and general contractors – continuously seek to understand the trends impacting Mechanical Construction Cost.

In the second quarter of 2022 mechanical construction costs continue to rise but not at the breakneck speed of 2021. The quarter-over-quarter increase in Q2-2022 clocked in at 3.4%.

Second quarter HVAC costs were up an average of 2.4%, with galvanized and copper showing the greatest increases. Plumbing costs were up 5.0% reflecting a 16.8% increase in the cost of cast iron with smaller increases in other commodities.
