Meet Jeff Herman, our Service General Foreman leading crews for Hermanson in Oregon.
Jeff's journey in the trades began at a young age. At just 16, he started cleaning sheet metal shops after hours.
"After seeing all the cool things they made, I knew this would be a great job for me. Two years later, I became a sheet metal apprentice and never looked back," he recalls. But his journey didn't stop there. Jeff was drawn to HVAC, completing a service apprenticeship and earning both sheet metal and service journeyman cards.
"Currently, I enjoy being a Service General Foreman. I love leading crews to deliver high-quality services and finding permanent, lasting solutions for our customers. As service technicians, we also get to see many different businesses from the inside, meeting new people and learning how HVAC helps them do their jobs," shares Jeff.
One standout project for Jeff is the Vista Project, a 21-story condo building with ten large VRF systems that required complete repiping and major outdoor unit rebuilds. Jeff notes that coordinating the work was challenging because the piping shaft access was located in individually owned condos.
"The crew on this project has been truly amazing. The compliments we receive from the owners and associates about the Hermanson crew are remarkable, especially considering we have to cut holes in their bathrooms!"
When asked to give advice to fellow foremen, he said "Get to know your crew. If you take care of your crew, they will take care of the rest," emphasizing the importance of teamwork and leadership for foreman.
"As a leader, I always stress to my crew that our main priority is delivering a lasting product or service. As I was told, 'Do what's right, not what's easy,' but I like to add: never at the cost of your personal life or family. I believe well-cared-for crews deliver the highest quality products and services, creating satisfied customers."
Beyond the construction site, Jeff's hobbies include hiking, sledding, attending Renaissance fairs, and helping his wife with their Christmas lights display.
After growing up in Pleasant Hill, Oregon, Jeff married his wife, Ashley, 16 years ago and has five children: Josh (17), Alexa (14), Lydia (12), Zeke (10), and Ike (8), along with their rescue lab mix, Ronin.
At Hermanson, we celebrate Jeff Herman – a Foreman whose dedication, expertise, and passion contribute to building excellence in every project he undertakes.
