In this month’s Foreman Focus, we’re highlighting Dave Henninger, a skilled Service Foreman with over 33 years of experience. Specializing in chiller services, Dave’s expertise includes chiller teardowns, tube cleaning, eddy current testing, and retrofits.

Dave’s journey to the mechanical industry began in an auto shop class. 

“I originally planned to follow my father’s path as a machinist, but a Universal Technical Institute (UTI) representative introduced HVAC during class. After attending UTI in Phoenix, I joined the UA 32 apprenticeship and have been a member ever since,” he shares.

What keeps Dave passionate about his work? “The services for mechanical systems are vast, and technology is changing rapidly. It is very stimulating, and I am always learning daily”. 

Currently, Dave is busy with repairs. He is working on Google Blocks and Highline School District. 

Dave emphasizes the importance of customer service in his role. “It’s crucial to build trust through clear communication. Taking the time to explain or show deficiencies adds value, and our clients notice that.”

One of Dave’s favorite projects at Hermanson was the Port of Seattle Pier 66. 

“I rebuilt two Trane Centravac Chillers and replaced the controls platform with Micro Controls, providing an affordable solution for the client. Being awarded the work over the competition was the best part.”

A lifelong resident of Washington, Dave grew up in Maple Valley, where he still lives with his wife Tatjana and their two children, Bryson (14) and Avery (11). They also have a 10-month-old golden retriever, Ellie, and two cats, Kiki and Max.

In his free time, Dave enjoys snowmobiling, wake surfing, and fishing.
