Meet Austin Zavala, a Construction Support Foreman who brings passion and expertise to his role. Raised in the Bonney Lake/Buckley area, Austin currently lives in Enumclaw.
Austin met his wife, Hannah, nine years ago. Together, they have their daughter, Wrenly (4), and three dogs, Jazz, Zeke, and Bear. In his free time, you can find Austin on the golf course with his friends and wife.
Austin’s journey into the construction world was deeply influenced by his father, who was also in the trades. As he approached high school graduation, Austin recognized that a traditional college path wasn’t for him. With his father's support and guidance, he sought apprenticeship opportunities and began his career in the industry.
Specializing in startup and commissioning, Austin plays a crucial role in working with commissioning agents, contractors, and balancers to ensure Hermanson projects are completed to the highest standards.
"The most important part of my job is to make sure that our customers are ultimately happy with the product we’ve provided," Austin emphasizes.
“I love the ability to work on different equipment daily, no matter the complexity,” Austin shares. “Rarely do I have the same task two days in a row, and each project varies with equipment.”
Austin was most recently involved in the Dieringer School District Project, focusing on the HVAC updates at Lake Tapps Elementary. When asked about his favorite project, he points to the Lake Front Blocks Project (Block 25 and Block 31).
“I had the opportunity to grow as a service technician and spent around two years seeing the job from start to finish,” he says.
Reflecting on his experience at Hermanson, Austin adds, "I appreciate that at Hermanson, no matter the trade, everyone seems to come together and work to help complete these projects and provide the best possible product we can."
Austin advises others in the industry to embrace challenges and continually seek knowledge.
“Over the last nine years, I learned that you can get humbled quickly in the industry, no matter your position: foreman, apprentice, or journeyman. Construction is an always-changing field, and the best thing you can do for yourself is absorb all possible knowledge.”
We’re proud to have Austin as a part of the Hermanson team and look forward to his continued contributions to our projects.
