Foreman Focus Friday: Shawn Coman

For Sheet Metal Foreman, Shawn Coman, interacting with customers and ensuring they are happy with a project’s outcome is the best part of his job.

Shawn’s attention to customer service makes him an ideal Foreman to be working with the Tenant Improvement Group (TIG) where he is regularly in contact with owners, owner’s reps and general contractors.

“I know if the subs are not successful, I’m not successful. The better they perform the better I look,” recalls Skanska Superintendent Jason Anderson who worked with Shawn at the iStream project, “Shawn has a great attitude [and] when a worker’s attitude is good it makes my job so much easier.”

Construction wasn’t Shawn’s first career path, but after working at a motor cross park and in the auto body industry through his mid-20s, he took advice from family friends and apprenticed with Local 66.  Shawn set a path for his younger brothers to follow and now all four of the Coman brothers are sheet metal workers (three of them currently work for Hermanson).

Shawn lives with his girlfriend and her daughter in West Seattle where he was born and raised.  When not commuting into downtown for TI projects, Shawn likes to spend time on the water, hiking, running, or riding motor cross.

By practicing Hermanson’s core value of “putting clients first”, Shawn is yet another great example of Living Hermy Blue.  Thanks, Shawn.
