Most high school graduating seniors don’t have a clear vision of their career path, but Rob Beckord knew he wanted to work in sheet metal.
Thanks to a family friend, Rob was introduced to the trade early on when he was invited to tour a job site. That was all it took! Rob joined the Hermanson team shortly after graduating and has been a loyal member of the team for over 17 years!
As a longtime Hermanson sheet metal worker, Rob has completed a number of projects throughout the area, but his favorite project to-date was the Seattle Toyota Honda Dealership. This was an exciting project to work on as this was the first time Honda and Toyota have ever shared a space. The design-build project was fast-tracked and involved utilizing lean processes and installing exposed ductwork. A self-proclaimed perfectionist, Rob’s favorite aspect of his job is installing exposed duct, as it allowsfor his work to be on full display.
Rob takes Hermanson’s purpose of “build trusting relationships and deliver inspired results” to heart. With every project, Rob keeps the client’s needs in mind and always strives to provide the most efficient systems with maximum value. He gives the following advice to others in the industry, “You should always put yourself in your customer’s shoes to see if you would be satisfied with the work you’ve done. Always take pride in your work and never be afraid to ask questions.”
Outside of work, Rob enjoys spending time with his family – his wife of 10 years, Jenny, their two sons, Jameson (8) and Tennyson (4), and their new bird hunting dog, Benelli. He is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys four-wheeling, hunting and fishing. Rob has been actively involved in the non-profit organization, The Fallen Outdoors (TFO), since participating in a TFO-sponsored hunting trip for a close friend who was diagnosed with ALS. TFO is an organization that takes veterans of all branches of the military, past, present, and with any disabilities, out fishing and hunting at no cost to them. This past summer, Hermanson sponsored a table at TFO’s annual banquet that Rob attended with a group of Hermanson employees. He enjoys sharing his hobby with others and is looking forward to the next TFO adventure!
Thanks Rob!
