King County Courthouse Seismic Restoration

598,000 sf | Seattle, WA | Infrastructure & Public Works

Hermanson provided full mechanical construction for this highly public project, which was completed on time and within the total budget.  This major renovation replaced plumbing and HVAC systems throughout the historic structure. The work was done in response to the 2001 Nisqually Earthquake and the resulting need to reinforce government structures to ensure functionality in the event of future seismic events.

Renovations took place in phases to allow for occupation and minimal interruptions of daily government activities by emptying and isolating one floor at a time and rerouting HVAC and plumbing systems to the remainder of the building.  Hermanson was responsible for all aspects of mechanical construction for the project (Plumbing, Piping, and HVAC/Sheet Metal), including management of the pre-selected controls contractor.

Completed in 2004
