Recently, Hermanson’s crew at the North Satellite Modernization Project at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport set five large air handling units (AHUs).

Detailed planning was required to transport the AHUs across an active tarmac, set a 110-ton crane to lift the 27 sections into the side of a building, and maneuver the sections to their final destination using a winch and rollers before assembling.

Special care was taken to ensure the operation met COVID-19 construction guidelines, and workers’ safety was paramount during the load-in of sections weighing upwards of 15,000 pounds.
