Oregon has the fourth-largest population of unhoused persons in the United States with an estimated 350 per 100,000 people (more than double the national average of 168 per 100,000). Three years ago, a team of Hermanson employees joined Lease Crutcher Lewis for a day of service at Paradise Parking Plots Community Garden to help build a garden for World Relief Seattle 's immigrant and refugee clients. After three seasons, the garden is thriving and bringing familiar foods and a sense of community to families from twenty-three countries. Hermanson’s Tool Manager, Abel Harp, grew up in Malden, WA where wildfires destroyed most of the town on Labor Day.
