Many of Hermanson’s clients – both owners and general contractors – continuously seek to understand the trends impacting Mechanical Construction Cost.

Hermanson’s Estimating team has long tracked key construction cost indicators as part of our continuous effort to provide accurate costing information. Now, every quarter, we are publishing a basic Mechanical Construction Cost Index to help our clients understand mechanical market conditions and to plan their projects.

Hermanson’s Mechanical Construction Cost Index is based on a comprehensive, representative Puget Sound region project. A complete estimate for this baseline project was completed is Q4 2017, and is updated with current pricing following the end of each quarter.

During his four years with Hermanson, Kolin has worked on a range of projects including downtown high-rise buildings, renovations, and healthcare facilities. He has specific expertise in Trimble® operations and finds the technology increases manpower efficiency and accuracy. Trimble® is a GPS system that orients positioning at a building site for marking pipe hanger locations. “Before Trimble®, the task of positioning hangers involved an army of workers with tape measures,” says Kolin. Now technology sets the points and a tape measure does a quick double check.

Passing through SeaTac Airport this summer?

You may see a familiar face if your flight plans take you through the North Satellite Terminal.

In a clever twist on the standard “Pardon Our Mess” signage, the Port of Seattle created a series of posters featuring contractors and Port personnel. The posters help direct, encourage and inform passengers of the progress on the North Satellite Terminal renovation and add a bit of whimsy to each traveler’s journey. Hermanson’s own, Local 66 sheet metal worker Joe Hudson, adorns one of the posters that greets passengers at the North Terminal.

Once again Hermanson is an innovation leader in the mechanical industry through utilization of cutting-edge technologies and products that help prevent worker injury and increase productivity.

Hermanson Sheet Metal Foreman, Dan Composano, knew he had a daunting task ahead of him at the new construction jobsite of a corporate headquarters in Bellevue. He and his team would need to install over 3,500 hangers for ductwork and piping from the ceiling pandecking of six floors. Prepping for a single wedge anchor per hanger required well over 21,000 holes to be drilled at depths of ½ -3 inches each.
