Hermanson Teams Up Against Hunger

December 30, 2007

In a competition that culminated at the annual Hermanson Family Holiday Party, Hermanson employees donated 8,628 pounds of food, toiletries, and child-care supplies, along with over $2,000 in donations to the Kent Food Bank.  Billed as a "friendly" competition between project and office department teams, the food drive took on a life of its own, challenging our staff to find room to store all of the items for donation.

As Rick Hermanson said in a letter to employees, "I always knew that the people who work at Hermanson Company are great - dedicated, hard-working, committed to excellence - but I admit to being absolutely blown away with the generosity shown during the Holiday Food Drive Competition.   It is truly amazing how willing you all were to open your hearts and your wallets to help those in our community who find themselves in need."

"Yes, I know that some of what drove this level of participation is the fact that this was a competition.  Let it never be said that Hermanson folk don't have competitive drive!  When the final count was taken, Project Team #1 (Team Leaders Lisa Ulrich, Rickey Martin & Sean Bakey) were the winners, with over 10,000 points.  However, the biggest winner in all of this is the Kent Food Bank and the people they serve. "

"I am extremely proud of the Hermanson Company team.  You continue to exceed my expectations in every way.  Thank you!"
