In November 2007, the FY04 Fort Lewis Whole Barracks Renewal project was awarded the Design Build Institute of America's top award for a Design-Build Public Sector Building of over $15 million value.
Hermanson provided all aspects of mechanical system design and construction for the FY04 Barracks Renewal. This project includes three barracks buildings housing 300 military personnel, a community building, company operations facilities, battalion headquarters and classrooms. The project was designed and certification documentation provided to achieve a LEED Silver Certification. Energy efficient approaches include the selection of high efficiency mechanical equipment; the use of low-flow plumbing fixtures; and recover of waste heat from electrical / mechanical rooms for pre-heat of outside air.
